NSA Sheep Centre at the Royal Welsh Show 2016

Date: 18th July 2016 - 21st July 2016

Location: Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells, LD2 3SY

If nothing else, the Royal Welsh Show 2016 is sure to be remembered for its heat! Although the favourable weather seemed to impact visitor numbers, with many farmers unsurprisingly opting to get some harvesting done, the NSA building was a hive of activity. Breed societies and a number of trade stands provided a warm welcome to members and visitors, and a variety of NSA Cymru/Wales Region committee members welcomes members and non-members to the NSA stand over the four days.

Phil Stocker, NSA Chief Executive, reports: “With Brexit at the front of most people’s minds discussions, meetings at the show were as busy as ever. With such a coming-together of people you couldn’t get a better opportunity to have short, off-the-cuff meetings. Topics included common land, carcase classification, TB, environmental issues and many more. It was also a pleasure to take part in the Tesco/Two Sisters lamb tasting awards, along with the presentations later in the day. The quality of the lamb was exceptional and it was interesting to speak to some of the winning farmers, hear the breeds they used and how they produced those lambs.”
