Time: 9.15am-4.30pm

On Monday 5th September, Welsh Commons Forum (WCF) held its Annual Members Meeting in Aberystwyth, in which NSA took part after WCF became incorporated into the organisation earlier this year. Formal business concluded that officer holder positions will remain with Edwin Harris as Chairman and John Staley as Treasurer.

A series of presentations followed, from Phil Stocker, NSA Chief Executive, who presented delegates with NSA’s recently launched - Complementary role of sheep in hill upland areas. Andrew RT Davies, Conservative member of the Welsh Assembly Government spoke strongly on the topic of Brexit and and PC Matt Howells from Dyfed police provided the audience with an update on preventing rural crime. Following lunch was a visit to Pwllpeiran Research Centre, the former ADAS experimental husbandry farm at Cwymystwyth, which is under the management of John Davies on behalf of IBERS where some of their work on miscanthus, rejuvenating ‘derelict pastures’, and the bi cropping of daffodils in grass for medicinal harvesting was discussed. The next WCF meeting is on Monday 21st November where the committee will seek to nominate a new position of Vice Chairman.
