Farmer Workshop 1- Reducing Sheep Lameness

Date: 30th October 2017

Time: 12.00

Location: Overtown Farm, Cranham, Gloucestershire, GL4 8HQ

NSA partnered up with MSD Animal Health to run two successful sheep lameness clinics in Gloucestershire and Cumbria, by kind permission of the Whittaker and Geldard families in October and November.

The clinics were designed to help farmers recognise the early onset signs of lameness and the contributing factors associated with lameness problems with information presented on the five point plan for lameness control and the Footvax vaccine.

Sheep vets Phillipa Page and Fiona Lovett were in attendance presenting information and leading discussion before demonstrating interesting hands on inspection and diagnosis session.

The day was rounded off with a discussion amongst attendees about their own flocks and a very welcome cup of tea and slice of cake to warm up on what was a chilly afternoon!

A beneficial and informative session for all in attendance, thanks go to our host farms, MSD Animal Health and Fiona and Phillipa for their organisation and support of the event. Members are encouraged to look out for further clinics on sheep health run by NSA throughout the year.
