NSA Scottish Region AGM and Dinner 2015

Date: 9th January 2015

The Scottish Region AGM and Dinner took place on the 9th of January at the Novotel in Edinburgh.

The hotel proved to be an excellent venue and, most importantly, the lamb was cooked to perfection!

In the afternoon there was a question and answer session with two Scottish Government officials, Ian Davidson and John Maxwell. They took questions from the audience on a variety of issues relating to CAP reform. This gave members the opportunity to have direct contact with key decision makers involved in the new scheme, which will see the shift to area based payments across Scotland. Topics ranged from setting regions, regional boundaries and the new entrants scheme, right through to LFASS.

The AGM saw Sybil Macpherson return to the Chair, Ian Hepburn remaining as Vice-Chairman and Maimie Paterson re-elected as Treasurer. Sybil and Neale McQuistin remain on the national Board of Trustees as the Scottish Region representatives. It was agreed that the two regional NSA Next Generation Ambassadors from 2014, Jennifer Craig and Andrew Prentice would become full committee members.

The 40 plus attendees at the AGM received a chairman’s report for the year, a financial report and a presentation from George Milne on lamb numbers, volumes and pricing.

In the evening numbers increased to 60 plus for the dinner, when other industry representatives and sponsors joined as guests.

After the meal there were speeches from Jennifer Craig and former NSA Chief Executive John Thorley.

Unfortunately the third speaker Andrew Prentice was unable to attend due to bad weather but he filmed a short speech which can be seen on the NSA YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/user/natsheepassoc.

The evening was concluded with a performance from Lauren McQuistin and £570 was raised for charity.
