Sheep Breeders Round Table

Date: 17th November 2017 - 19th November 2017

Last weekend (17th – 19th November) saw the biennial Sheep Breeders Round Table (SBRT) take place in Nottingham.

Organised by AHDB Beef & Lamb, in conjunction with NSA and other industry organisations, this event continues to grow in popularity, with a record number of attendees turning out to enjoy everything it had to offer.

Several sponsored young people, including a number of NSA Next Generation Ambassadors, were among those included, as well as NSA English Committee Chairman Bryan Griffiths and Chief Executive Phil Stocker taking part in sessions during the weekend. Phil reports: “The SBRT is an intensive, but hugely enjoyable event with a great atmosphere. The organising committee did a great job of pulling off a packed programme, with some good messages coming through on the work being done to improve yield and eating quality of sheep meat and the use of genomics to identify health traits.” All of the presentations and posters are available via the NSA website at www.nationalsheep.org.uk/sbrt.

NSA submitted two posters for the mix, focussed on the iSAGE (innovation for sustainable sheep and goat production in Europe) research project it is involved in. Interest in both was high, and provided a useful opportunity to discuss other research projects NSA has in the pipeline.
