NSA Sheep Centre at the Royal Welsh Show 2017

Date: 24th July 2017 - 27th July 2017

Location: Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells, LD2 3SY

NSA's Sheep Centre  at the Royal Welsh Show was as busy as ever this year, showcasing the best of the Welsh sheep sector with a range of exhibits from breed societies, commercial companies and more.

NSA Chief Executive Phil Stocker reports on a fantastic event: “The Royal Welsh Show is not only a fantastic spectacle for visitors, but also a convenient meeting place with so many people and organisations all in one place. The NSA Sheep Centre, at the head of the NSA building on the showground, was home to many breed societies and trade stands during the week as ever. It felt busy and it was a pleasure to welcome many members, as well as recruit a good number of new ones too."

The show was opportunity for many meetings with industry throughout the week including a first meeting between Environment secretaires Michael Gove and Lesley Griffiths as well as First Minister for Wales Carwyn Jones.

Later in the week Phil along with Welsh NSA Cymru / Wales representatives met with Welsh government Chief Vet Christianne Glossop to present a petition signed by over 2500 sheep farmers in opposition to the proposed isolation units required in Wales from September that will affect the sheep showing community adversely.
