NSA North Sheep 2017 launch trade stand applications

25th November 2016

Businesses and Breeders wanting to take a trade stand at next year’s NSA North Sheep, being held this year in County Durham, can now book online. In addition to the breed society and trade stands, there is a new section specifically for those individual breeders who want to promote their stock.

This one-day biennial northern showcase of the sheep industry regularly attracts between 6,000 and 8,000 farmers all wanting to find out about the sector’s latest developments, take part in workshops and seminars, or just meet up with friends.

This blue-ribbon event in the sheep industry calendar is being hosted by W.H & J Smith & Sons at West Shields Farm, near Tow Law, County Durham, on Wednesday 7th 2017.

To highlight the diversity of lamb for recipes, new for next year’s event will be a Lamb Festival Corner, dedicated to British lamb production.

Booking for trade stand spaces is online for 2017 at the new website www.nationalsheep.org.uk/northsheep, using a system that has been tested at other NSA events. There are also some sponsorship opportunities available for businesses that want to join NSA North Sheep 2017’s main event sponsors which are currently Tow Law based rural chartered surveyors Vickers & Barrass and Darlington Farmers Auction Mart.

NSA North Sheep organiser Heather Stoney-Grayshon, said: “NSA North Sheep is the industry’s biggest event in the North of England and provides an ideal shop window for businesses and breeders to hear about the latest industry and consumer trends. There is a growing trend for breeders choosing to promote their own stock to customers and that is why we have this year introduced a dedicated breeders trade stand package.

“We’re expecting places to fill up quickly so we’re advising people to book their trade stands early. Certainly before the closing date of Friday 24th February 2017.”

Host farm for NSA North Sheep 2017, West Shields Farm, is managed by John Smith with his sons David and Alan alongside his nephew and his son. This is a 900-acre traditional mixed farm with a commercial sheep flock of 1,350 Mules and some Texels, 300 suckler cows and a local contracting business.
