Lambing starts 14/04/2024 for 4 weeks with 650 ewes indoors.
4 students with no previous experience required; accommodation provided.
I am an English shepherd /owner running 650 texel ewes in southern Denmark.I require ca 4 students to help lamb from ca mid April until ca mid may. The main days being from the 15 April and 14 days onwards. I run an intensive indoors system forage based and usually a lambing % of around 190. Our lamb death rate usually is under 5%. We stomach tube many and have a high aftercare. You will be involved in all aspects of lambing and sheep management at this time. I need students that are keen to work and learn but not lamb cuddlers! The shifts start at 04 and stop at 24 with people doing 12 hr shifts. I of course pay for all transport from your airport and supply full board and lodging. The evening meal is provided by a local restaurant the rest is in the larder/fridge. I would like students to be able to work for at least 14 days preferably a bit longer. There would be an opportunity to see a bit of Denmark while you are here as students usually get a trip to Copenhagen on their way home. I don't pay wages but will endeavour to teach you a lot about lambing sheep and you will be treated nicely while you are here working alongside other young Danes, Irish or English students.
