Following the important business of electing post holders and officers there will be a presentation on “Succession Planning for Farms & Agricultural Businesses” by Adriana Vaux of the Tenant Farmers Association. Adriana worked as an advisor for the TFA in 2014 starting off as a graduate rural surveyor. After qualifying in 2017 as a rural chartered surveyor/land agent she took a year out in 2018 to study law, returning to the TFA to work on agricultural policy and to advise members on a range of topics including succession. She is well placed therefore to inform members of the issues to be aware of when considering the long term plan for a farm or agricultural business in order to safeguard it for the future.

The meeting will also be joined by Bryan Griffiths, Chairman of NSA, as the second speaker for the evening. As well as running his farm in North Devon Bryan has a long standing involvement in NSA both at regional and national levels. Bryan has recently visited South America and in addition to bringing us up to date with all things NSA he has agreed to share the findings of his trip, in particular how the sheep industry functions in comparison to our own, thereby providing an insight into the “brave new world” outside the EU, a world in which we will need to compete for a share in the international market.

The evening will end with a supper of shepherd’s pie and crumble, kindly sponsored by Farm & Country Supplies.

For catering purposes please let Sarah Blake, South East Secretary, know if you will be attending and require supper by email at  southeast@nationalsheep.org or by text/voicemail on 07734 428715.
