NSA Eastern Region Rugby Ram Sale

There was a real buzz at the NSA Eastern Region Rugby Ram Sale, with a packed ringside of eager buyers, mainly local, which ensured a tremendous trade throughout the day. A smaller entry than previous years, but the quality forward was very good.
110 rams were sold, with nearly a 75% clearance rate of Texels, Charollias, Suffolks and any other breeds up for grabs. The quality of stock was reflected in the price, with both the Texel and Charollais rams performing well, averaging well over £600 a piece.
The ram sale was topped by Garfield Stephens of Melton Mowbray, with one of his Texel Shearling Rams at £1050, which sold to N.K. Butcher from Stratford.
Texel Shearlings - prices ranged between £357 to £1050, with an average of £644 a piece.
Charollais Shearlings - prices ranged between £315 to £840, with an average of £614 a piece.
Charollais Ram Lamb - average £588.
Suffolk Shearlings - prices ranged between £525 to £630, with an average of £543 a piece.
Suffolk Ram Lambs - prices ranged between £399 to £420, with an average of £413 a piece.
Beltex Shearling - average £609.
