NSA Scottish Region - Annual Members Meeting

Date: 14th February 2018

Time: 4pm

Location: Airth Castle Hotel and Spa, Airth, Stirlingshire, FK2 8JF

More than 70 NSA members and guests attended NSA Scottish Region’s Annual Members Meeting and dinner on Wednesday, held at Airth Castle Hotel, Stirling.

Formal business saw NSA Scottish Region office holders remain unchanged, with the exception of Sybil MacPherson who has now retired from a second three-year term as Regional Trustee. Sybil is replaced by Peter Myles, sheep farmer and long-standing NSA member.

Following a thorough Chairman’s report and an interesting insight into the regions work and policy challenges, Emma Harper MSP of the Scottish National Party spoke about the importance of farming to Scotland, the need to get a good deal via Brexit that allows frictionless trade, and her enthusiasm to work with NSA and our sheep farming members.

George Milne, NSA Scottish Region Development Officer, reports: “NSA Scottish Region thanks all those who helped make this a successful event. Following the meeting, we enjoyed a dinner of Scotch Lamb legs, generously donated by Scotbeef, which provided the material for an entertaining lamb leg carving competition by table. Lord Duncan, Conservative politician, currently serving as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the both the Scotland and Northern Ireland Office, entertained us by speaking after dinner as well as NSA Next Generation Ambassadors, Rory Gregor and Alister Watson, who gave presentations on their experiences of the programme. The evening wrapped up with a raffle raising more than £500 to help NSA Scottish Region deliver its charitable work.”
