NSA Northern Region AGM and Guest Speakers

Date: 20th February 2014

The third of three AGMs this week was for NSA Northern Region, held in Hexham yesterday evening (Thursday 21st February).

Guest speakers included David Raine, NSA Vice President, on the industry trip to New Zealand last August, as well as Tom Carrick and James Raine who were sponsored by Northern Region to attend the Northern Farming Conference late last year.

Peter Lee, a sheep from near Allendale, Northumberland, was presented with the T.I. Allinson Memorial Award for outstanding contribution to sheep farming in the north, for his role in tirelessly promoting the North of England Mule and securing classes for the breed at the Royal Highland Show alongside Scottish Mule breeds.

Within the AGM itself, between 50 and 60 farmers saw Adam Watson continue in his second year as Chairman and Greg Dalton and Eddie Eastham continue as Vice Chairman and Treasurer respectively. English Committee representatives for Northern Region are Adam, Greg and Eddie, with Geoff Lawn standing down and being thanked for all his previous hard work.

Regional Manager Julie Sedgewick was also thanked for her sterling support and work, with Adam presenting her with a bunch of flowers for keeping him on the straight and narrow in his role!
