NSA Marches Region Farm Walk

Date: 4th September 2018

Time: 6pm

Location: Brook House Farm, Ham Green, Redditch, B97 5PR

NSA Marches Region held a committee meeting and farm walk on Tuesday 4th September. The event, kindly hosted by NSA member Sam Jones at Brook House Farm Redditch, attracted a good number of members and non-members alike and provided plenty of thought for those in sheep, and those looking to, or already into diversification.

NSA Marches Region Secretary Lorna Davis comments: “Sam spoke about how he and his father work to develop a symbiotic business which has spread the risk within the industry by combining multiple uses for the land and buildings they had.Alongside farming 1200 sheep and arable land Sam now manages several projects including biomass, commercial units and a wedding bar business. Investment in technology within his sheep handling system has enabled him to improve the performance of his flock, reduce the time required to manage the sheep and invest the time created in his other businesses. Sam believes it is all about making small efficiencies to make life easier”.

The evening ended with a much-enjoyed BBQ and opportunity to catch up with friends and fellow NSA members.

The Marches region is planning to host an evening lecture in November, details to follow.
