NSA Breed Society Forum
Date: 5th May 2022
The NSA Breed Society Forum took place online on Thursday to discuss current policy hot topics, with interesting conversation around the Northern Ireland Protocol and live breeding animal exports. NSA shared information with attendees on how it continues to be in contact with Defra and NI counterparts to highlight just how important this trade is for the UK sheep sector. Following a policy update breed societies heard more about the NSA Next Generation programme in the afternoon with reminders given that NSA is open to work with societies to help with promotion and their own support for younger sheep breeders. The session was brought to an end with an update on the Rationalisation of the Ovine Semen Archive (including semen to be released later in 2022) and future plans for a Livestock Gene Bank. Thank you to all who attended.
