NSA Scottish Region Sheep Centre at the Royal Highland Show 2017

Date: 22nd June 2017 - 25th June 2017

Location: Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, EH28 8NB

NSA Scottish Region pulled together an impressive display in the NSA Scottish Region Sheep Centre marquee, making it a welcome and active place to be at the Royal Highland show. Featuring its usual, excellent number of breed and display stands as well as wool competitions, butchery and cookery demonstrations NSA Scottish Region Development Officer George Milne reports: “The marquee proved very interesting for visitors. Thanks go to all of the NSA Scottish Region Committee members who helped with the organisation and managing of the stand and of course to the chefs, butchers and others who provided interesting and enjoyable demonstrations.”

Alongside the opportunity to connect with the general public and other industry representatives, the event leant itself to an opportunity to speak to recently appointed Environment Secretary Michael Gove. NSA Chief Executive Phil Stocker says: “Myself and NSA Scottish Region Chairman John Fyall took the chance to introduce ourselves to Mr Gove. A valuable opportunity and introduction which I’m sure played its part in securing a commitment for NSA to meet again soon and discuss the value and needs of UK sheep farming.”

Elsewhere on the show ground a popular attraction proved to be the shearing of former NSA Scottish Region Chairman Sybil Macpherson, who had her head shorn to raise money for Cancer Research UK. To donate to Sybil’s JustGiving page members should visit http://ow.ly/xc8g30cLyeK.
