Register of Sheep Advisers launch events

The new Register of Sheep Advisers (RoSA) are holding two online launch events on Wednesday 13th May. RoSA is a new Professional Register for qualified and well-informed advisers working with the UK sheep industry. RoSA has been created through a collaboration between NSA and BASIS, together aiming to support the wider sheep sector as it moves towards a more sustainable future.

#LeadOn Workshop: Being proactive – tools for positive engagement with dog walkers
Time: 7.30pm - 8.30pm

Wednesday saw the third in a series of NSA #LeadOn workshops. The evening event focussed on the powerful use of social media and positive messaging when dealing with and preventing an incident of sheep worrying by dogs. NSA English Committee Chair, Kevin Harrison hosted the meeting alongside a very diverse panel consisting of Jake Freestone (Farm Manager, Overbury Farms), Tom Chapman (Shepherd, Overbury Farms), Zoë Colville (The Chief Shepherdess) and Debs Roberts (Ladies Who Lamb UK).

#LeadOn Workshop: Rural crime – positive way to work with the police on sheep worrying cases

NSA's #LeadOn campaign saw great support from farmers, members of the public, other industry bodies, veterinary practices across the UK and the media, including a feature on BBC Breakfast and ITV’s Good Morning Britain, as well as coverage by a number of local radio stations.

#LeadOn Workshop: Constructive conversations – how mediation techniques can help manage conflict with dog owners

NSA was joined by May Millward from Scottish Mediation who delivered an insightful workshop on how conflict arises and steps farmers can take to minimise and mediate conflict. In the context of sheep worrying by dogs, May educated attendees on how we naturally react in situations of conflict, and steps which can mitigate conflict.

NSA Breed Society Forum 2021

After an enforced absence in 2020, this year’s NSA Breed Society Forum took place on 6th May – as in the past, still on the first Thursday in May. For the first time it was an online event in 2021, split into two sessions allowing attendees to join for the morning programme and/or the afternoon section.

NSA Breakfast Club - #LeadOn: an early morning focus on the current legislation around sheep worrying by dogs and the potential for change

The #LeadOn Breakfast Club webinar engaged attendees with a summary of NSA's 2021 Sheep Worrying Survey results setting the scene for an early morning discussion on current legislation and the potential for change. The session was chaired by Neil Parish MP who has campaigned himself for more to be done about this serious issue.

NSA Sheep Worrying Fortnight #LeadOn

The National sheep Association (NSA) 2021 campaign highlighting the impact of sheep worrying by dogs came to a close on Friday 14th May, with the sheep farming charity hopeful that increased awareness of the issue is beginning to filter through to further areas of the general public.
