Ferry Booking Information
P&O, which operates the shortest ferry crossing across the English Channel (Dover-Calais and Calais-Dover), will only transport livestock that is for breeding or milking and only if the booking is made via the National Sheep Association (for sheep) and National Beef Association (for cattle).
NSA is still taking bookings for sheep moving into the UK. But due to the lack of a Border Control Point (BCP) in Calais it is unlikely that any animals moving from Dover to Calais will be able to so in a direct route. Please check before you travel and, for further information as to what an alternative journey might entail, contact email@example.com.
The procedure below, which was written for transport in both directions, still applies for one-way travel from Calais to Dover.
- For each crossing, email a completed booking form to NSA at least three working days before the date of travel. Email both firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com and please note that booking forms will only be processed during office hours (9am-5pm Monday-Friday). NSA cannot guarantee late bookings will be processed in time.
- Make payment for the crossing at the point of booking. To make a payment, call NSA on 01684 892661 within the office hours provided above and either provide your credit/debit card details or request bank details to pay by BACS. Bookings will not be passed to P&O until payment is received. For your own security, do not email credit/debit card details.
- Once payment has been received, your booking will be made and your Waybill emailed to you. The Waybill can be used within a 14-day window but, if not used, you can contact NSA to request a refund. Refunds are processed within one month, once confirmation has been received from P&O that the booking has not been used. The NSA administration charge will not be refunded.
- In the event of a difference between the booking with NSA and the passage with P&O, any additional charge to NSA will be passed on to the customer. Please be accurate when selecting your vehicle length on the booking form to avoid this happening. Future bookings will not be processed if there is an outstanding balance with NSA.
