NSA Meeting with the Minister

NSA were pleased to welcome Jim Paice, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food, to the Darley Stud near Newmarket on the border of Cambridgeshire and Suffolk on Wednesday this week.  The Minister was keen to discuss Schmallenberg virus and see and speak first hand to a group of farmers who had been experienced the virus on their farms.  Phil Stocker, NSA CEO who was present at the meeting hosted by NSA English Committee member and Eastern Region Vice Chairman Dan Phipps commented ‘ The Minister contacted us because he was keen to be as informed as possible about Schmallenberg and its impacts at farm level, and it was a pleasure to help.  We brought together a number of local farmers to add to the discussions and also had the opportunity to talk about progress with the movements database, the 6 day standstill and separation units’.
