NSA Sheep 2012: shearing

3rd May 2012

NSA Sheep 2012 will attract some of the UK’s leading and upcoming sheep shearers competing in series of all day activities lined up at the industry’s biennial event to be staged by the National Sheep Association at the Three Counties Show Ground, Malvern on Wednesday 4 July.

The Open Sheep Shearing Competition is to feature a team of top UK shearers and overseas shearers, managed under the rule of the British Isles Shearing Competition Association, and judged by some of its members.

The event will also host a new NFYFC shearing competition designed to offer younger operators the opportunity to hone their evolving skills and progress to higher levels.

Entries close 20 June with forms available to download from the event website. NSA advises early entry as both competitions are limited to 18 competitors.

“Apart from offering competitors the opportunity to promote their skills and sheep handling excellence, less experienced shearers will be able to learn from watching them,” comments NSA Sheep 2012 organiser, Helen Davies. “These fast and furious spectacles provide farmers with the chance to catch up on the BWMB’s requirements when it comes to fleece preparation, handling and wrapping.”
