NSA South West Region AGM Report

20th February 2013

At the South West regional AGM, Robert Jordan was re-elected as Chairman, with Bryan Griffiths continuing as Vice Chairman. This year the Chairman’s report focused on how the very wet weather, poor prices and Schmallenberg had all contributed to a gloomy picture.

The region hope to organise some farm walks during the summer and as usual would welcome ideas of venues, or of other activities we could hold.

Once again it was a young, local farmer who treated us to an excellent presentation. This was from Chris Berry who had won the Novartis/NYFYC scholarship to New Zealand in 2012. In words and pictures he showed us how he had made the most of his time in learning as much as he could about the sheep industry there.

Phil Stocker, NSA Chief Executive, completed the evening with a roundup of some of the issues within the sheep industry and the part the NSA plays. As usual he had some difficult questions thrown at him, but managed to satisfy those asking them.

Supper provided the perfect opportunity for discussions to continue long into the night!
