NSA Central Region Early Gathering – A date for your 2019 diary!

2nd December 2018

NSA Central Region Early Gathering returns to Bakewell Livestock Market in the New Year, looking to arm visitors with useful information and a positive outlook ready to face the uncertainties likely to face sheep farmers in 2019.

As the ambiguity of Brexit hangs over the sheep industry, this year’s event, taking place on Thursday 24th January, has the theme of ‘vital information for an uncertain future’ and will feature seminars and interactive workshops to equip sheep farmers with useful information with which to move forward into 2019 with hope for a positive future.

Alastair Sneddon, NSA Central Region Chairman and Bagshaws Senior Partner at Bakewell says: “We are very much looking forward to hosting this event again at Bakewell Market. The opportunity for sheep farmers to attend a winter event to catch up on the latest developments is something we consider to be immensely valuable. We therefore hope to welcome sheep farmers from across the region and beyond to what promises to be a busy and interesting day out.”

Three seminars will be spread throughout the day kicking off with a panel of industry experts, including leading sheep vets, discussing the increasingly important topic of responsible antibiotic use. As popular media continues to raise questions over the health benefits of red meat in addition to increasing claims livestock production is ruining the British countryside and wider environment, seminar two will look to how industry can overcome this and counteract the damaging and, in many cases, false allegations. The programme will finish with a well-informed panel including NSA Chief Executive Phil Stocker and Defra officials leading a session to update attendees with the latest developments on Brexit as we prepare to exit the EU.

Following some intensive seminars, visitors to NSA Central Region Early Gathering may need some lighter relief. They will be able to meet with a range of exhibitors in the shelter of the market to view and discuss the latest products and equipment ranges on offer as well as taking the welcome opportunity to meet up with friends old and new. There will also be an extensive programme of workshops on offer providing an array of useful information to take home.
