NSA on the hunt for Livestock Researcher to join team for period of maternity cover

22nd May 2019

The National Sheep Association (NSA) is looking for a Livestock Researcher - Maternity Cover to join the team from July 2019 for a minimum of six months and up to 12 months.

NSA created the role of Livestock Researcher as a result of its involvement in the iSAGE project (March 2016 to February 2020), to deliver NSA’s commitment to iSAGE and also further develop, expand and organise opportunities for NSA to secure research funding, drive research agendas to the benefit of commercial sheep farmers and communicate projects and their findings to NSA members in a timely and appropriate fashion. NSA does not want to lose momentum within this area during a period of maternity leave so will provide cover between two specific roles – Consultancy Support and NSA Livestock Researcher - Maternity Cover.

Applications are now open for the position of NSA Livestock Researcher - Maternity Cover to find someone able to work three days a week with the Consultancy Support and NSA Operations Director. Download the job description below.

The role would suit someone with knowledge of the sheep sector and the realities of commercial sheep farming, who is self-motivated, organised and has strong IT, data processing and presentation skills. Experience in / knowledge of / contacts within the livestock research field are preferred but not essential, but candidates must be enthusiastic about maintaining and strengthening NSA's profile within the agricultural and research communities. NSA is looking for someone who will work well within the team at Head Office and be confident and professional when dealing with people within the organisation and outside. NSA will consider applications from candidates anywhere within the UK, but a successful candidate working from home would be expected to spend some time at NSA Head Office as part of the role.

To apply, please complete the application form within the document below and return it to Joanne Briggs, NSA Operations Director, with your CV and a covering letter. Send applications to joanne@nationalsheep.org.uk before 9am on Thursday 6th June; interviews will be on Wednesday 12th June at NSA Head Office.
