2 lambing students required to assist on a family farm in north Oxfordshire, 750 ewes lambed both indoors and outdoors starting with NC Mule organic flock lambed inside from mid March then from early April conventional NC Mule and Scotch Mule flock lambed indoors and outdoors all based in the village of Steeple Aston where accommodation and hot meals are provided. Quad-bike and use of a farm truck will be provided. Would suit people keen to learn about a progressive sheep system. Steeple Aston has a shop, pub and good bus routes to Oxford for downtime. Work rota will be provided so all staff have sufficient time off as and when needed.

We are looking for a student, or two, to join our friendly team for our 2020 lambing. We will be lambing 320 ewes, mainly Mules and texel x, indoors from mid-February onwards. We are a diversified mixed farm and can offer learning opportunities to those looking to go to agricultural college or veterinary school. This is not a paid role, however we will provide on-site living accommodation and meals. We expect to be lambing for around 5 weeks, but can be flexible if you'd like to apply but cannot do the full 5 weeks.

Lambing Students required March 14th – April 19th 2020. We have 850 welsh mules cross Charolais ewes lambing. There will also be 80 pedigree Sussex cows calving at the same time. We are looking for Enthusiastic students willing to learn, gain experience helping with all aspects of lambing, we lamb inside and they go out in the field at 3 days old (Weather dependent). We scan early January and all the lambing information goes into a little black book to help you with your projects afterwards. Accommodation is provided in a large mobile home, we offer a minimum of two weeks, but we are flexible and longer placements are more than welcome for the right student. You will be working within an experienced team of a mixture of ages, willing to teach all the key aspect of lambing, the management of a farm and the sheep over the key period of the season. There is no job to big or small for any of our staff as we are keen that everyone helps each other to make it the most enjoyable and efficient lambing with lots to learn. Many of our students have come back over the years due to the enjoyment of the experience. We are a fully working 1000 acre farm on the South Downs open to the public who come to watch the lambs being born. Past students feedback has been that this really helps their confidence in their knowledge. We also have another team who show the public the farm. The skills picked up from speaking to the public will give you greater understanding of you knowledge sharing the information that you have learnt

265 Suffolk X and Charolais X ewes, scanned at 191%. We are a Vistor Centre attraction, and have a viewing platform looking into our lambing shed. Duties will include, feeding, bedding up, assisting ewes that need help lambing, wet adopting triplet lambs onto singles and most importantly ensuring a high welfare and health status. In addition to our Spring lambing flock, we have 85 Poll Dorset ewes that lamb in January, 50 Pedigree Sussex Cows and followers and 15 Gloucester Old Spot sows and progeny. We finish all lambs, pigs and beef animals on farm, the majority of which supply our Butchery in our on site farm shop. Accommodation in the farm house may be provided along with meals. This can either be a placement for 1 week, 2 weeks or the full 3 weeks.
