NSA Wales & Border Ram Sales Early Sale

30th July 2018

The NSA Wales & Border Early Sale will be held at the Royal Welsh Showground on Monday 6th August.   The event marks the beginning of the 40 th anniversary celebrations and is the 28 th Early Sale.

It includes four breed society sales, as well as the Western area Suffolk Show & Sale, with all sheep subject to inspection.  There will be a total 625 rams, of nine breeds and crosses.

The sale is the venue of choice for early lambing flocks wanting the pick of rams ready for tupping. It traditionally sets the price for top quality, healthy, assured rams.

A buoyant mood at last year’s NSA Wales & Border Early Ram Sale meant good sheep sold well and the sale grossed a record £256,880, £43,000 more than the previous year, with a top price of 1750 guineas. The number of rams sold was 426, well up on the 390 the year before, with more than 76% of the rams forward sold.

The headline figure was 1750 guineas for a Texel shearling, sold by Welsh Language TV’s S4C Ffermio presenter, Meinir Howells, and her husband, Gary.
