Auctioneer Achieves Family Tradition

17th September 2019

Auctioneer Chris Armstrong says he’s fulfilling a career and personal ambition by bringing Texel tups, offered by Hexham and Northern Marts, to the NSA Wales & Border Ram Sale on Monday 23rd September.

He says he has always wanted to follow his grandfather, Tommy or TAS Thompson, by selling at the Royal Welsh Showground. Previously, Michael Walton who still sells Blue Faced Leicesters at Builth, assisted and then took over from Mr Thompson.

He says: “We have a fantastic entry of 128 birth notified, MV accredited Texel shearlings and ram lambs in Ring No. 15, Hall No.1 from consignors from across Wales, England, Scotland & The Isle of Man.

“I’m delighted to say that it’s almost the four nations! It’s a great opportunity for us as Hexham and Northern Marts to explore a new customer base, to attend and to act as auctioneers.

“We’re delighted to have been invited by a number of Texel consignors – some existing customers and some new - on the back of our success at Kelso. It’s an alternative to some of the Society sales.”

Chris added that the top quality commercial rams are eligible to be used on pedigree flocks. Interested potential purchasers should contact him on 07808 721957 for details
