He says he only comes to the Builth Wells sale, simply because ‘that’s where you can buy the best’. 14th September 2018 Badger Face Long Links to NSA Wales & Border Ram Sale Torddu judge, farm secretary and NSA Wales & Border Ram Sales committee member, Lucinda Levinge, has been involved with the event for most of its history. Her mother, Stella Levinge, went to the sale back in the early 1980s to buy Suffolks and came back with a couple of Badger Face ewes as a present. Read More
13th September 2018 Charollais Breeding for Hardiness Charollais Breed Society Chairman, Arwyn Thomas of the Arbryn flock, is the first Welshman to hold the position and is also sits on the NSA Wales & Border Ram Sales committee. Having run a commercial flock, he bought his first pedigree breeding ewes at the sale on the Royal Welsh Showground He chose Charollais 28 years ago on the advice of a friend who was buying for a slaughterhouse. 13th September 2018 Lleyn re-emerged with NSA Wales & Border Ram Sales The recent history of the Lleyn runs parallel to that of the NSA Wales and Border Ram Sales and the sale has had a critical impact on the breed’s re-emergence. The Lleyn has risen from a very small local Welsh breed, teetering in the Rare Breed lists with, in 1971, only 7,000 ewes throughout Britain, to the largest non-hill purebred and the fourth largest non-hill ram breed.
