NSA welcomes return of Agriculture Bill

24th September 2019

Following the decision of the Supreme Court to rule the prorogation of Parliament as unlawful, NSA is calling for Parliament to resume work on the Agriculture Bill. Eleanor Phipps, of NSA, explains: “This ruling is unprecedented and something we have never seen before as a country. Therefore it is hard to know exactly what will happen now. However, the Court ruled that the prorogation was invalid and thus never happened, which leads us to the conclusion the Bill never fell and therefore still stands. This is very welcome and we hope it means progress can be resumed and the Bill moved forward quickly. With the prospect of a no-deal Brexit looming, it is vital this legislation passes to provide structure and certainty to UK farmers.”
