Sheep Industry adapts for Shearing 2020

As the covid-19 crisis deepens, the sheep industry has turned its attention to shearing, and the pending difficulties in the 2020 season.

The National Association of Agricultural Contractors (NAAC), British Wool (BW), and the National Sheep Association (NSA), have come together to discuss a support system for this year, given the probability that shearers will be unlikely to be able to travel into the UK from abroad.

The organisations are encouraging farmers to contact their contractors, as usual, to organise their shearing, as work is underway to ensure contractors are in contact with domestic shearers.

This work is under development and more information will be released in coming days and wider industry organisations are being contacted to join up work across industry.
