NSA praises rural charity for highlighting sector’s mental health challenges
The National Sheep Association (NSA) is paying high regard to Rural Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) and its work on the Big Farming Survey, where results shared today (Thursday) have revealed that stress, depression, and anxiety are all common features of farming communities even though over 50% still feel optimistic for the future.

NSA competition asks children to help in the fight against sheep worrying by dogs
As part of its continued work to highlight the serious and devastating issue of sheep worrying by dogs NSA is excited to launch a new children’s competition that could help raise awareness to dog walkers and others enjoying the countryside. NSA is challenging children in three age groups; Under eight, eight to 12 and 13 to 16, to design a sign suitable to be displayed on fence posts and around farmland reminding dog walkers to keep their pet on a lead when walking in areas where sheep may be present.

New faces of Love Lamb campaign revealed
The National Sheep Association (NSA) is excited to introduce two enthusiastic young sheep farmers ready to educate and inspire the British public as part of the Love Lamb campaign. Following a recent competition searching for a sheep farmer to front the social media activity of the campaign that encourages lamb consumption, NSA, working alongside levy board AHDB, has found not one, but two sheep farmers looking forward to sharing their farming lives on Facebook and Twitter.

NSA conference to welcome top names from UK sheep industry this October
Well known experts from the UK sheep sector are preparing to share their knowledge and experience at a free National Sheep Association (NSA) online conference this October. Organised by NSA’s South East Region, the Sheep Health, Wealth and Production (SHWAP) conference will take place over three consecutive evenings starting on Tuesday 26th October and running until Thursday 28th October.

EU-funded project facilitates two UK sheep farmers in trip to Italy
An EU-funded, Turkish-led research project has provided the opportunity for two National Sheep Association (NSA) members to travel overseas to find out about organic livestock production. NSA is part of the E-Organic Erasmus project, working to collate European information into a free-to-access online resource (including but not limited to sheep) and facilitate nominated individuals from the participating countries (Italy, Spain, Turkey and the UK) to visit each other on study trips.

NSA backs call to protect nature
As the momentum builds towards COP26 (1st-12th Nov) the National Sheep Association (NSA) is backing calls for all of society to do what they can to protect and enhance nature. With a multitude of voices using the run up to the conference to offer thoughts on nature recovery, NSA is reminding commentators and policy makers that much of Britain’s biodiversity is farmland dependant and without grazing livestock we would lose many habitats and food sources that are essential for farmland based nature.
