The Day NSA Scotsheep Should Have Been! Webinar
Thursday 27th May 2021 seen the day NSA Scotsheep should have been. Accompanying various social media posts and Facebook stories was a dedicated webinar held by NSA Scotland to mark the day. "Whit’s fur ye’ll no go by ye! - The challenge of establishing and future proofing sheep farming in Scotland” seen NSA Scotland Chair Jen Craig host the evening with panel members consisting of NSA Scottish Region Coordinator Grace Reid, NSA Scotsheep Hosts Robert and Hazel Mc Nee and Brian Richardson, UK Head of Agriculture, CYBG Plc.

NSA pleased to announce new Vice President
Having come to the end of a successful Chairmanship of the National Sheep Association (NSA) at the beginning of the year, North Devon sheep farmer, Bryan Griffiths, has now been announced as a new Vice President of the association. Following a recent NSA Board meeting, Mr Griffiths was invited to become Vice President in recognition of the hard work and commitment he has shown to both NSA and the wider sheep industry, especially over recent years when the UK sheep sector has found itself in a time of uncertainty with concerns over future trade and changes to agricultural and environmental policy.

NSA responds to launch of series of actions in England protecting habitats and species on land
The National Sheep Association (NSA) takes great pride in the way the UK’s sheep farmers integrate high quality productivity with a balanced approach to the protection of nature and managing climate change by their farming practices. It therefore welcomes the potential opportunities offered by the recent (18th May) announcements from DEFRA of the Environment Bill introducing a range of action plans to support the creation of a Nature Recovery Network to dovetail with new agricultural policies.

NSA sees this as a further step towards developing clarity over the new Future Farming schemes and what will replace the BPS as it is phased out.

The decision by Natural England to grant a licence for the release of up to 60 White-tailed Sea Eagles in Norfolk has come as a no surprise to the National Sheep Association (NSA), despite the concerns raised by farming organisations, local farmers and landowners during the consultation period.

NSA and BASIS launch Register of Sheep Advisers
BASIS and the National Sheep Association (NSA) have joined forces to create a sheep industry first – The Register of Sheep Advisers (RoSA). Launched in May, RoSA aims to recognise personal development and training for advisers, so they can continue to support UK sheep farmers so they can access the best and most appropriate advice to meet their business needs.
