NSA recognises ambitions of the launch of “Action Plan for Animal Welfare” by UK Government
The National Sheep Association (NSA) listened with great interest to the Queen’s speech on Tuesday announcing plans for legislative changes in key areas covering animal welfare alongside focused actions in the Environment Bill to protect nature. Acknowledging how both health and welfare of all animals is woven into the health of our planet, the proposals cover five key areas, including recognition of sentience, and the consideration of animal welfare in policy making and trade negotiations, along with enhanced protection for livestock, pets, and wild animals.

NSA Lambing List closes after successful season
As a much-valued service to its members, the National Sheep Association’s (NSA) Lambing List provides farmers with a place to advertise for much-needed lambing assistance from students and others seeking work experience each year. The list annually provides an annual matchmaking service for around 400 farmers and veterinary and agriculture students.

NSA survey reveals alarming trend in sheep worrying by dog attacks
More than two thirds of the UK’s sheep farmers responding to a recent survey have experienced an increase in sheep worrying attacks by dogs during the past year. This troubling statistic is part of a concerning set of findings released today (Friday 30th April) by the National Sheep Association (NSA) from its recent farmer’s survey assessing the incidence and impact of sheep worrying by dog attacks across the UK.

NSA welcomes back pedigree sheep breeders to online Breed Society Forum
The National Sheep Association (NSA) is looking forward to welcoming pedigree sheep breeders from across the UK to its 2021 NSA Breed Society Forum that returns next week after a two year absence. Having been forced to cancel last year’s forum due to Covid-19, this year’s online format will provide a long-overdue opportunity for NSA and NSA-affiliated breed societies to exchange information and share updates on their respective activities and priorities.

NSA calls for combined effort to raise awareness of sheep worrying by dogs
The National Sheep Association (NSA) is encouraging retailers, pet service providers such as vets and rescue centres and popular visitor sites to join together this Spring to raise awareness of the serious issue of sheep worrying by dogs. With cases of sheep worrying attacks by dogs continuing to rise the sheep farming charity, NSA, is preparing to launch its 2021 campaign supporting the issue and is suggesting others play their part in tackling the problem too.
