NSA urges new Secretary of State to ensure current progress is not wasted

Misleading media messages about sheep farming needs to stop
The National Sheep Association (NSA) is reminding the media of their responsibility to ensure statements made by presenters are factually correct. NSA is seriously concerned that mainstream media is painting British sheep and cattle farming in a negative light, suggesting it is a key cause of global warming and GHG emissions.

NSA welcomes sheep industry support policy pledge in leadership contest
The National Sheep Association (NSA) has welcomed the policy pledge by Conservative Party leader (and Prime Minister) hopeful, Jeremy Hunt, that £6 billion will be earmarked for farming and fisheries in a no deal Brexit scenario. In October 2018, NSA set out a ‘no deal notice’ in response to Government notices, in which it called for money to be committed to assist sheep farmers with the cost of offsetting tariffs in a no deal scenario.

SHEEP FARMERS BEATING A PATH TO NSA HIGHLAND SHEEP 2019

NSA responds to Defra general licence call for evidence
NSA has responded to the UK Governments call for evidence on general licences for the shooting of certain species of birds. The general licence's have now been taken over by Defra from Natural England. You can read NSA's full response below. The consultation calls for evidence on the following questions; 1) Your views on the alternatives to killing or taking a specific bird species for: Conserving flora and fauna Preserving public health or safety Preventing serious damage or disease (serious damage relates to serious damage to livestock, foodstuffs for livestock, crops, vegetables, fruit, growing timber fisheries or inland waters) In particular, what are these alternatives and to which bird species do they relate? In your experience or evidence, how effective and practicable are they? 2) Your experience or evidence of any benefits that were delivered by the three revoked general licences? 3) Your experience or evidence of any problems with or caused by the three revoked general licences.
