Ewe hogg entries sought for NSA Scotsheep 2024 show and sale

Entries are now being accepted for the multi-breed show and sale of pairs of ewe hoggs which will feature at NSA Scotsheep 2024.

The biennial event, organised by the Scottish region of the National Sheep Association, with Virgin Money as major sponsor, will be held on Wednesday, June 5 at Aikengall Farm, Innerwick, Dunbar, East Lothian, EH42 1SG.

It’s set to attract a strong line-up of ewe hoggs born in 2023 from well-known breeders across the country.

Nine classes will be on offer for Bluefaced Leicester, Mules, North Country Cheviot, Blackface, Suffolk, Texel, any other native breed, any other continental breed and any other cross breed, with both MV accredited and non-accredited sheep eligible for sale.

Closing date for the entries is Friday, May 3 and an entry fee of £25 per pair (plus VAT) should be made payable to NSA Scottish Region. One entry ticket to the event will be supplied per exhibitor and further exhibitor entry tickets can be purchased for £8.33 (plus VAT).

Sheep entered for the sale must be penned before 7pm on Tuesday June 4 or by 7am on Wednesday June 5, to allow judging to take place within pens at 9am on the day of the event.

The judges are Robert and Hazel McNee, Over Finlarg, Tealing, By Dundee, host of NSA Scotsheep in 2022.

Prize money per class includes £50 for first prize, £25 for second and £10 for third, with the overall champion attracting an additional cash prize of £100.

All sheep entered for the show must be offered for sale which will be conducted by United Auctions at 4pm. If sheep cannot be uplifted by purchasers on the day, it is hoped that arrangements can be made for buyers to collect their purchases from the premises of the vendor within 14 days.
