Breeding sheep for important traits and mitigating iceberg diseases

Dr Janet Roden will show how data is collected and explain how to select for traits such as ewe efficiency, mothering ability, lamb survival and the importance of easy lambing and growth rate in terminal sires. The importance of selection pressure in a commercial farm environment will be explained with reference to UK and NZ case studies. Vet Peers Davies will provide a practical guide to identifying iceberg diseases and what measures can currently be adopted to mitigate their impact on flock production and profitability.
