NSA Sheep Event set to offer the perfect day out for the nation’s sheep farmers

21st July 2022

The flagship event of the National Sheep Association (NSA) returns next Wednesday 27th July and will be firmly focussed on looking towards a positive future for the UK sheep industry.

Taking place for the first time since 2018, the event is established as the leading technical sheep event in the UK. It provides visitors with the unique opportunity to view the latest innovations in the sector, hear from leading experts and influential figures, and browse the numerous sheep specific trade stands.

NSA is excited to welcome back visitors to the popular event. Phil Stocker, NSA Chief Executive, comments: “Having so greatly missed the chance to meet up with NSA members and the wider sheep sector at face-to-face events all at NSA are excited to open the gates for NSA Sheep Event 2022 next week. We are confident the event is returning with a bang providing knowledge and information for producers to fine-tune their businesses.”

Joining NSA at the event will be the Minister of State at the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Victoria Prentis, who will address visitors to the event from the NSA stand on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr Stocker continues: “We are pleased to welcome Minister Prentis to our event this year and hope she will give those in attendance a useful update on the future direction for agricultural policy and trade in the UK. Of course, NSA Sheep 2022 provides a good opportunity for sheep farmers to come together for discussion and our excellent line up of informative seminars will provide the perfect platform for this on key topics affecting the sector.”

The 2022 seminar line up will debate varied current issues such as future market opportunities, relevance and how the sheep farm’s grasslands can be a salvation for carbon capture and nature recovery. Joining the seminar line up will be influential figures from the UK farming sector, including Gloucestershire farmer and TV presenter Adam Henson who will chair discussions on sheep farming's social relevance. A full programme of seminars can be found on the NSA Sheep Event website.

A new feature for 2022 at the event will be the NSA Grassland Trail. As input prices skyrocket, the trail will provide plentiful advice so farmers are able to explore ways they can optimise their grasslands for efficient and profitable sheep production. A series of technical workshops and demonstrations will also help those attending to pick up timely and useful advice on how to develop many elements of their sheep farming businesses. In addition, more than 250 sector specific trade stands will join the event to create the perfect day out for the nation’s sheep farmers.

NSA Chairman and Chairman of NSA Sheep Event 2022 Dan Phipps adds: “It is with immense pleasure that we look forward to welcoming old and new faces back to the NSA Sheep Event. It is my opinion that there is no better show to demonstrate and celebrate all that is great about our industry. It is a day for anyone with an interest in sheep from die hard shepherds to those interested in starting with sheep be they old or young, we aim to cater for all. We look forward to seeing you there.”

All information for this year’s event can be found on the NSA Sheep Event website www.sheepevent.org.uk.

The website also details information on advanced tickets, that can now be purchased with a 20% online discount.
