RoSA - New approaches to late pregnancy feeding of ewes

The first webinar of the year, provided by the Register of Sheep Advisers (RoSA), on “New approaches to feeding late pregnancy ewes” is available for anyone who was unable to attend the live event.

All RoSA members who attended the live webinar received 2 CPD points. The event was hosted by Liz Genever, Independent Sheep Consultant and RoSA Steering Group Chair.

Liz introduced three speakers who covered a range of topics around feeding late pregnancy ewes.

Bryn Hughes (National Sheep and Beef Specialist at Wynnstay) discussed whether we have become “hooked on soya”, what impact feeding soya has on the wider environment and alternative sources of protein for sheep diets.

Kate Phillips (Independent Sheep Consultant) focussed on the utilisation of forage, and how using silage analysis and careful management can reduce farmers reliance on concentrated feeds.

Nerys Wright (AHDB Knowledge Exchange Manager) outlined some of the key findings from her research on how Body Condition Scoring is being used on UK farms.

RoSA are hoping to host three more similar events before the end of the membership year on the 31st of May, so watch this space.
