NSA Advantage Feeder prize giveaway 2014: Daniel Creer, Isle of Man

3rd November 2014

The fifth lucky winner in NSA 2014 membership recruitment prize giveaway was so pleased with his prize that he bought himself an extra one! Daniel Creer took not one but two Advantage 3in1 Feeders home with him – all the way to the Isle of Man.

Daniel runs 500 Blackface cross Swaledale ewes and a mix of 400 Mule and Texel ewes across six separate land tenancies on the island, encompassing 1,000 acres of hill ground and 250 acres of upland. His enterprise spans from 500 to 1,800 feet above sea level. Battling against an annual rainfall on his land of more than 80 inches, Daniel produces fat lambs, which he sells through his local abattoir and to Dunbia in Preston, and sells approximately 200 breeding Texel ewes and Mule ewes each year. Daniel also makes time for work as a shearing and fencing contractor, and runs 100 store cattle and 20 Angus cows alongside his sheep.

Daniel is thrilled with his new feeders, and plans to use them to flush ewes and keep condition on twin-bearing ewes prior to lambing.
