NSA South East Region Farm Walk

Date: 29th June 2023

Time: 2.30pm

Location: Applesham Farm, Coombes, Lancing, West Sussex. BN15 0RP

NSA South East Region is pleased to invite members to a farm walk on Thursday 29th June at Applesham Farm, by kind permission of Hugh Passmore of WD Passmore & Sons.

Applesham is a traditional mixed farm of 850ac with a suckler herd of 60 Limousin cross cows run outside all year and a ewe flock of 350 Lleyn and Texel crosses.

Cropping is based around an eight year rotation, with 3 years of grass/ legume swards followed by 2 winter wheats then 3 spring barleys all with catch crops grown between and grazed by the livestock, before returning to grass.

This visit promises to provide an insight into the undoubted advantages of the mixed farming practiced at Applesham for several generations, underlining the mutual benefits available to both the livestock and arable enterprises and also to the environmental balance across the farm….Indeed a visit not to be missed!

As an added bonus there will be a BBQ on the farm after the walk!
