Emily Reeves - Veterinary Surgeon

Northumberland

This texel lamb was attacked by a dog near Berwick upon tweed in Northumberland. The lamb was left for dead and the farmer found her just in time as another few minutes and she would have been dead. She had had her throat torn out and her trachea was lacerated so we placed a tracheostomy tube to stabilise her while we treated her. Luckily after 2.5 hours surgery we were able to suture her neck back together as well as multiple other lacerations over her head and neck and she recovered well from the anaesthetic.
