North Wyke research farm opens its gates to sheep farmers

4th July 2014

The National Sheep Association's South West Regional Committee have an excellent farm walk planned for Wednesday 8th July at the North Wyke Research Farm, near Okehampton, Devon.

The event is open to all sheep farmers, NSA members and non-members alike, and starts at 3pm at the farm.

Bryan Griffiths, Devon Sheep Farmer and NSA South West Regional Chairman, says: "We are delighted that North Wyke has agreed to host us for the afternoon. The farm shepherd will explain the management of the current sheep flock and the in-house research scientists will describe some of their on-going projects. This work includes assessing the nutrient quality of different swards, analysing run-off and drainage water, and quantifying the carbon storage capacity of different grasses. All sheep farmers are welcome and there will be light refreshments on arrival."

It would be helpful for farmers wishing to attend the event to Bryan Griffiths beforehand on 01769 560393. The post code for the farm is EX20 2SB and NSA signs will point you in the right direction.
