Support on offer for UK shearers and wool handlers wanting a working holiday in Australia

NSA member Lesley Prior has made NSA aware of an opportunity for young UK sheep shearers and wool handlers to apply for training and support in Australia.
Australian Wool Innovation is offering a pastoral award to UK citizens considering a working holiday in Australia as a shearer, wool handler or shed hand. The award includes:-
- A five-day residential workshop.
- Connection to a shearing contractor looking for staff.
- Ongoing training support and mentoring.
- Loan of shearing/wool handling equipment.

NSA is not directly involved in this scheme, but understand there is a vetting process once you register your interest and that applicants must cover the cost of their own flights.
