NSA Farm Sign For Use During COVID-19

17th April 2020

If you are a concerned NSA member about the responsible right of access during Covid-19 please see the link below to download a farm sign to remind the pubic of their duties during this uncertain time.

The public do still have a responsible right of access during Covid-19 however, some areas of land are exempt:

  • Land with crops sown or are growing
  • Farm buildings and structures
  • Caravans
  • Residential gardens
  • Land which has been developed for recreational purposes.

Land grazed by livestock is generally not excluded from responsible access rights.

Farmers can use signage to help inform the public about the presence of animals.

Access with dogs should not be taken to fields with young livestock and an alternative route should be signposted where possible.

It is also woth reminding that the public should be exercising within walking distance of their own homes. If you have issues with cars parking on your land for this reason during the Covid-19 lockdown NSA Scotland advises members to call Police Scotland on 101 as they are directly contravening government guidance.
