Rain fails to dampen enthusiasm at NSA Scot Sheep
Incessant rain throughout the day failed to dampen the enthusiasm of sheep producers at Scotland’s national sheep event, NSA ScotSheep 2014, at Quixwood Farm, Duns, Berwickshire, on June 4. Despite the rain, the event attracted an estimated 6500 visitors from throughout Scotland and the North of England.

Newly elected MEPs asked to address £23 million TSE burden on UK sheep sector
The National Sheep Association (NSA) has written to all 73 newly elected and re-elected MEPs, plus the 39 outgoing representatives, drawing their attention to a £23 million annual bill burdening sheep farmers due to one single piece of EU legislation.

New legal helpline available for sheep farmers
The National Sheep Association (NSA) is delighted to announce the launch of a new legal helpline for its members, offering 30 minutes of free expert advice on any topic they may be struggling with in their farming businesses. Flexibility for farmers as new Schmallenberg vaccine made available
Options for vaccinating sheep against Schmallenberg have increased, with Merial Animal Health’s launch of SBVvax today (1st April). As with Bovilis SBV, the vaccine release by MSD Animal Health last year, the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) has granted SBVvax a provisional licence in order to get the product to market without many years of lengthy testing.

Global climate change report highlights importance of supporting food production in the UK, says NSA
While in the UK we appear to be basking in the luxury of debating re-wilding and de-stocking of our hills and uplands, the most recent United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report this week on climate change has taken a significant change of tack with a strong recognition of the risks of climate change to food production and human security, says the National Sheep Association (NSA).

NSA honours outstanding contributions to the sheep industry
The National Sheep Association (NSA) has named sheep farmer Margaret Dalton OBE and sheep consultant Dr John Vipond as joint winners of the 2013 George Hedley Memorial Award – only the second time in the history of the prize that is has been won by two people jointly.
