Ag Bill Consultation triggers industry crisis meeting
Eighteen stakeholder organisations from across Scotland’s agricultural supply chain attended an emergency meeting at Stirling Agricultural Centre on Monday. Triggered by frustration about the lack of detail and direction in the agriculture bill consultation published last week, the discussion centred on Scottish Government’s ‘dysfunctional’ stakeholder engagement and perceived dearth of understanding of the pragmatic needs of the industry.

Interim Chair appointed for NSA Scottish Region
Following the resignation of Jen Craig as NSA Scottish Region Chair on Saturday 3rd September, the decision was taken to put one of the two NSA Trustees from the region in the position of interim chair for the foreseeable future. The regional committee met on the evening of Tuesday 6th September and unanimously agreed that Peter Myles, a well-known sheep farmer from Glenesk, Angus, would take the interim role.

Interim chairman to be appointed for NSA Scottish Region

NSA Chief Executive responds to Minster’s continued dismissal of concerns over trade deals
Phil Stocker this week responded to comments from Britain’s Minister for International Trade, Anne-Marie Treyelyan, who again said farmers’ concerns over trade deals with Australia and New Zealand were misplaced. The Minister told the Financial Times in an interview during a trip to Australia that the deals would help curb inflation in Britain by “stripping away” tariffs on imported goods.
